Rebuilding community ties — the most natural "security system".
The volunteer organizers of the Patrol have developed many mechanisms to spread
the word about crime and help us all share responsibility for the safety of our
neighborhood:
- Crime alert notices by e-mail
- Regular newsletters
- Block captains
- Direct contact with the patrol officers via phone or a secured mailbox
- Phone trees and e-mail networks
- Membership yard signs
- Comprehensive membership database, easily updated in a secure fashion, via
the internet
Frequent communication between the community and the Patrol officers allows
all of us to respond rapidly to crime patterns and, hopefully, to prevent future
occurrences.
